In Tamil Nadu 28 students of govt schools join IIT Madras

A total of 28 students from Tamil Nadu’s government schools have joined IIT Madras this year through the IIT4Everyone (Anaivarukkum IIT) initiative, state School Education Minister Anbil Mahesh Poyyamozhi announced on Thursday.

The achievement highlights both the improving standards of government-run schools in the state and the determination of underprivileged students to pursue higher studies at premier institutions.

“With the support of the visionary schemes introduced by Chief Minister M.K. Stalin, our government school students are scaling new heights in education. Delighted to share that 28 of our students have joined IIT Madras under the #IIT4Everyone initiative,” the minister posted on X.

He also extended his congratulations to the students, calling them “bright young achievers embarking on a new journey.”

The Anaivarukkum IITM (IIT Madras for All) programme, launched in April 2023 in collaboration between the state government and IIT Madras, is aimed at helping students from economically weaker sections access higher education in top institutions.
