Gold prices in India continued their upward momentum on Monday, rising for the fourth consecutive session. On the Multi Commodity Exchange of India Ltd (MCX), 10 grams of 24-carat gold were trading at ₹98,141, while 22-carat gold stood at ₹90,053 as of 10:40 am IST.
In the spot market, bullion rates were slightly higher, with 22-carat gold priced at ₹90,237 and 24-carat gold at ₹98,440 per 10 grams, reflecting a 0.23% increase over Friday’s close.
The upward trend comes against the backdrop of escalating trade tensions after U.S. President Donald Trump announced steep tariffs—35% on Canadian goods (effective July 11) and 30% on imports from Mexico and the European Union (effective August 1). These measures have fueled concerns of a prolonged global tariff battle.
Meanwhile, India is currently in talks with the U.S. to finalize a bilateral trade agreement. According to reports, Indian negotiators are expected to visit Washington soon to advance discussions on the proposed deal.
